Spend your money on a good mattress and comfortable shoes because if you’re not in one you’re in the other.
Having invested in a decent mattress (topped with fluffy white blankets and an obscene amount of throw pillows), it was about time I bought some comfortable shoes- Well these are comfortable shoes.
Cheesy title right? But it’s true! There’s a big difference between walking into someone’s place that feels sterile and unloved, versus walking into a home that has an instant feeling of warmth and comfort- the kind of place that makes people say “can I live here?”
Regardless if you own a home, live in a dorm or have an apartment with enough roommates to border on the edge of being a brothel, there are a few things you can invest in that instantly change the mood of your living space.
As much as I love fashion and beauty, my knowledge of both barely scratches the surface. Luckily I have friends like Julia who have a passion and knowledge far beyond my own. If you want to get metaphorical, we could say that Julia is my Carrie Bradshaw: She lives in New York, works for a fabulous PR company and keeps me current with all the latest trends and must-haves.
Happy Valentine’s day Y’all!
I’m not one to go overboard on color or matching my outfit to the holiday, so I wanted to share a simple date night look that should be in every girl’s wardrobe: the Little Black Dress. It’s classic, will never go out of style, and let’s face it- black is always flattering. This LBD I got from Madewell, and instantly loved the simple A-line skirt and a fun leather edge neckline detail. Toss on some cute shoes and red lipstick and you’re ready to go!
I was hired for my first “real-world” job this past August, and by “real world” I mean the glamourous life of a 9-5 job with an office and steady paycheck. While I’ve only worked here for 6 months, the excitement of getting my first post-graduate job and finally starting my career has slowly lost its sparkle.
I think like most of my peers, we have this perception that as soon as we get handed our diplomas we’re going to march off the stage and into our dream career. Our co-workers will become our best friends, our bosses will continually be impressed by our incredible talent and understanding at such a young age, and our paychecks will be enough to fund a semi-yearly trip to the Bahamas. No one else? Ok then, maybe that was just me.
I am not a morning person. I doesn’t matter how much sleep I get the night before, waking up is really hard. I wish it wasn’t that way. I wish my head popped off the pillow feeling rested and bright eyed, but my mornings are more akin to hitting the snooze button for 30 minutes and looking like I wrestled with a cat in my sleep. NOT cute.
But there is one thing that has been making my mornings just a bit better. This green almond, banana smoothie. Like most green drinks they look like they belong more in a Dr. Suess book than in my body, but this one is particularly delicious. I first had this smoothie at my local whole foods (did you know they don’t have a standard smoothie list?!) but tweaked it a little to my liking.
Not only is it a great quick breakfast as your rushing out the door, it’s great as a post workout meal full of protein and some fresh spinach to get in your daily greens.
Hope you enjoy!
Happy Friday Everyone! With Valentine’s day just over a week away I thought I’d share some picks that are the perfect mix of sweet and sultry. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s day with a special someone, or hitting the town for “Galentine’s” day, these items are sure to make your night memorable.
I love vests.
I love them so much I went on a mini vest rampage a few weeks ago and bought three in one day! I love the look of lots of layers and vests are a quick and easy way to toss on another layer to what would be an average outfit.
I’m friends with Legally Blonde. No, not Reese Witherspoon’s character Elle Woods, but a living breathing Law School student with fabulously blonde hair, quick whit and a borderline caffeine addiction. Emily and I have been friends for longer than we haven’t in our short 24 years on this planet. We’ve grown up and moved away from each other but she remains to be one of my dearest friends and someone whose wisdom never ceases to amaze and inspire me.
