Keeping Cozy

Photoshoot 1 018

I REALLY don’t like winter.

I know what you’re thinking… “Then why the Hell do you live in Colorado?” I’m not a great skier, I hate being cold and have never been to the X-Games. BUT, I can sled any hill like a boss, love adding a little peppermint schnapps to my hot chocolate and indulge in any good excuse to get cozy.

Maybe someday I’ll move somewhere warm and sunny like San Diego, but for now I’ll settle for cuddling up with a good book, and obsessing over the perfect printed jogger pant. Here’s to you winter.

Desk Décor

style me pretty

Y’all, I don’t know what it is, but I have a strange new addiction: Desk Décor. I’ve spent far too much time scrolling through Pinterest and other lifestyle blogs drooling over what I’m going to call “desk porn”. These spaces are fresh, inviting and functional (who knew there were so many cute desk accessories in the world?). It’s inspired me to update my own desk space which in turn will maybe inspire more productivity and actually using my computer for more than just Netflix.  If you’re in need of a desk upgrade here are my picks to offer a little more glam in your office life.

My Coming Out Story Will Change Your Perception Of ‘Sorority Girls’

friends at campfire

One thing I’ve always valued above anything else is friendship. I feel very fortunate in my life to be surrounded by women that are strong, confident, creative and caring.

One such person is my friend Claire. We met when we went through sorority recruitment and have continued to stay friends years later. She is one of the boldest people I know, and someone I consider a total Lady Boss. I’m super excited to feature a story she wrote for Elite Daily, and hope that you find as much inspiration in her story as I do. Thanks for being you Claire!

Denver City Guide

While I’ve lived in Colorado my entire life (except for what I deem “The Lost Year” when I spent my first year of college down in Savannah, GA), I’ve never spent much time in Downtown Denver until I moved here this past October. This city has an endless amount of fresh places to eat, trendy stores to shop and plenty of ways to spend a lazy Sunday, so I’ve put together a brief list of my favorites so far. I still have so much exploring to do in this city so if you happen to have a favorite spot or hidden gem that I didn’t mention, please share!

Warm Weather White

untitled shoot-353

There’s nothing I love more than summer evenings. There’s a moment right before the sun sets where it feels as though the whole earth just stops and takes a breath.

Summer is also my favorite time of year because I have a serious obsession for white blouses. Specifically lacy white blouses. It’s as though summer is just begging me to throw on my favorite white top and go wander the charming streets of old town.

A Midsummer’s Night

untitled shoot-026

There’s nothing I love more than being surrounded by good people, exceptional food and sweet white wine. So naturally this summer, a few weeks before I moved out of the little white house and onto a new chapter in my life, I threw a dinner party.

We poured sparkling lemonade and chilled white wine into thrift store mason jars. We ate creamy risotto, balsamic and honey chicken skewers mixed with crisp red peppers and sweet onions. There was prosciutto wrapped asparagus and black bean quinoa salad mixed with earthy cilantro and a tangy vinaigrette. For dessert we filled our bowls with velvety mint ice cream and tart red cherries drizzled in hot fudge that threatened to spill over.

Trance-like summer

sunshine

This past week, amidst the normal blur of conference calls, weekly meetings and my ever present procrastination, I found myself day dreaming.

There is a sort of melancholy that happens with each new season. As though life has finally caught up with you, and you realize the closing of another chapter.

While the fall was fresh, crisp and inviting with its spicy cider and cozy scarfs, and winter promises powdered sugar trees and sweet mulled wine, I’ve been recollecting on my summer a few years ago lost among the land of 10,000 lakes and exploring an introverted side of myself that I have never really known.

I had time to think, read good books and take naps. I spent long days in freckled skin drinking fresh lemonade and eating grilled corn.
