Good Morning!
What is it about warmer weather that makes the days seem longer? I’m all about it because recently I’ve been feeling like the weeks are flying by. I also love any good excuse to throw on some cute sandals and shorts and head out the door.
These sandals I found at Nordstrom Rack, (I’m becoming a Nordstrom Rack shoe hoarder… )and paired them with a breezy blouse and some fun cut-offs I made last season. Making your own pair of high-waisted denim shorts is soooo easy, cheap and fun to do.
To make these shorts I started with finding a pair of old mom jeans from the local thrift store. Try and ignore the length of the hem and such because they’re bound to look awkward, but once you take a solid pair of scissors to them no one will ever know. Make sure when you’re making the initial cut that you don’t go too short. You can always cut more off but not the opposite so err on the side caution when you make the first cut. Once you have the perfect length, I like to take some sand paper and scuff up the shorts a little- around the pockets, and any seams to make them look well-loved.
Voila! Your cheap and easy pair of summer shorts. Perfect for throwing on over your suit, or just strolling around downtown.
